The Artemis Apartment is a family run, three room hotel, a few meters walk from the beautiful beach of Platanias.

The owners request was to redesign the ground floor external space in order to give the clients a little more privacy as well as comfort during their stay.

The proposed design aimed at dividing the residential function of the upper floor with the hotel function of the ground floor, in order to give more privacy to the hotel guests.

Also an important task was to subtly divide the available external space for each of the three rooms without fragmenting it and losing the sence of the whole.

Due to the high summer traffic of Platanias, the yard had to maintain the ability to function as a temporary car parking but simultaneously give the impression of an architecturaly designed space for outdoor living.

In general, the architectural drawing was realised.

The marble staircase of the residence was separated from the hotel portion of the building firstly by changing its shape into a straight staircase and secondly by using a semipermiable louvre division. This division divides the space but maintains the sence of the whole. It was also used to divide the yard for the hotel guests, again with the same intentions. The yard was also subtly divided by framing each third of it with different colour of granite tiles.

Also, a metal cantilever defines clearly the entrance to the residence and gives more formality to it.

The metal-wooden fence gave the yard the necessary privacy from the front road. Also, a pair of doors with a uniform design enhance the overall architectural feel of the space and allow for safety for the hotel guests with small children.

Budget restrictions did not allow the full completion of the architectural drawing, however future works will be held in the internal space  which will complete the hotel renovation.
